LINOCUT PRINTS

Linocut is a relief printmaking process in which an image is carved into a sheet of linoleum. The areas left raised are inked and then printed onto paper, transferring the image in reverse.

The process involves cutting away sections of lino to create marks, textures, and shapes. Ink is rolled onto the surface, and paper is pressed with my Gunning etching press. Because the carved areas do not hold ink, they remain unprinted, creating contrast between light and dark.

Colour reduction linocut is a printmaking process where multiple colours are printed from a single lino block, carved away in stages. After each colour is printed, more lino is removed, making earlier stages impossible to repeat. This irreversible process results in a fixed, limited edition.
