Amelia Hemmings

Amelia Hemmings works from direct experience of landscape. Walking in remote places is central to her practice, shaping both the subject matter and the way the work is made.

She uses photography to record fleeting moments of change — shifts in light, weather and water — which are later developed in the studio through paint and ink to establish structure and composition.

From these studies, the work evolves into linocut and monoprint. The resulting prints are not literal records of place, but responses shaped by memory rather than direct representation. They reflect the experience of being within a landscape, rather than observing it from a distance.

She recently took part as a pod artist on Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year.

Her work is held in private collections across the UK. New limited edition series are released in small numbers, each print hand-pulled from her studio. Current work continues to explore the shifting atmosphere of remote landscapes, with exhibitions planned for 2026.
