MONOPRINTS
A monoprint also results in a unique image, but it begins with a repeatable element, which is the lino block. While the base remains the same, each print is altered through changes in colour, layering, or mark-making, meaning no two prints are identical.
A variable edition (V.E.) describes a small series of prints made from the same linocut block or plate, where each print is intentionally different. While the image remains related, changes in colour, layering, or inking mean that every print is unique. This approach sits between a limited edition and a monoprint, acknowledging both the shared source and the individuality of each finished work.
